Our ethos

Circular Design requires considering not only the physical aspects of material usage, but also who design is for, why it exists and who it benefits.

At Re_semblance Studio we commit to working in the following way:

Creating equality through diversity in design

Re_Semblance Studio designs with purpose and is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in design.

Our commitment to providing an inclusive, accessible environment and parity of treatment extends to all our employees, clients, and collaborators.

By highlighting individuals from various backgrounds and identities, we can counteract the imbalances pervading the industry. It is also important for us to take an intersectional approach, recognising that individuals may face multiple forms of discrimination or disadvantage due to their overlapping identities.

    • We prioritise working with diverse artists and communities

    • We work on projects that support under-represented communities

    • We share our skills and resources with our creative network and surrounding communities

    • We prioritise safety and access for all involved in our projects, ensuring that access requirements are met from the start and design processes are shaped accordingly

    • We uphold a strict anti-slavery and trafficking commitment throughout all stages of production, and we audit external suppliers before committing to working with them

    • By prioritising diversity and inclusion, we're dedicated to creating design that promotes equality for all

It’s not waste unless you waste it!

Re_Semblance Studio is focused on ensuring that the resources we take from the planet are replenished or kept in use for as long as possible to allow our earth and ecosystem to not only survive but to thrive.

We are now living in a ‘scarce resource’ based society in which our everyday resources are dwindling due to human overconsumption and extraction without regeneration from our planet’s ecosystem.

We are committed to carefully considering the materials we use; from how they are created and their impact on the environment in doing so, to what happens to them when they are no longer needed.

We understand that it is no small feat to reverse the consequences of the linear structure of ‘take, make, waste’ in which our economies and societies have existed for many years, but we accept that we now all have a responsibility to collectively make these changes. To transition out of a linear system and move towards circularity is a journey of progress rather than attaining perfection.

    • Ethical and sustainable digital resource usage wherever possible such as our website and digital assets being maintained by a 300% carbon positive platform

    • Re_Semblance Studio will always consider and choose materials that have minimal impact on the planet. Harmful chemicals and fibres are not used.

    • We repurpose existing materials and products to prevent them from ending up in landfill.

    • We are dedicated to understanding material compositions and assessing their potential for reuse, recycling, and repair.

    • We strive to minimise our CO2 footprint by sourcing materials and suppliers locally for each project.

    • We work collaboratively with local communities and economies to reduce waste on both a material and human scale.

Our economy was built and continues to be maintained to favour power and profit being shared only by the wealthy few.

At Re_Semblance, we firmly believe that the best design solutions and innovations arise from collaboration and skill sharing.

Our goal is to create employment opportunities for a diverse range of creatives by developing projects that have a positive impact on local communities whilst promoting the redistribution of wealth to address inequality within our economy and society.

By prioritising collaboration, skill sharing, and unity, we can create regenerative profits that benefit all parties involved.disadvantage due to their overlapping identities.

    • We prioritise working with, collaborating with, and extending employment opportunities to those who have experienced barriers entering the workplace or whose social-economic background has prevented them from accessing creative opportunities.

    • We do not discriminate against anyone who wishes to engage in the design world and welcome those who want to learn and grow with us, regardless of their background.

    • We pay the real living wage and above and are committed to addressing the gender pay gap by prioritising working with women* and non-gender conforming persons to continue closing the gap.

    • Flexible first - we believe the 9-5 is outdated and discriminatory to many, increasing barriers into the workplace. Therefore we support flexible working hours that fit around people's lives and needs as well as remote working.

    • We are actively working towards providing mentorship and work experience opportunities for: young people, those returning to the workplace, including individuals who have previous justice system involvement who are seeking employment and skills training.
